I do realize that this is a little off subject for our southern heritage site...but I feel that it is discussion worthy.
I am referring to the recent opening of "Passion of the Christ".
Some might argue that this has nothing to do with our south, and they may be right in a round-about way. The simple fact of the matter is that this will draw out alot of the fence-riders, those who felt at one time that their religion and relationship with Christ had no place in the public eye....well, they have discovered recently that it is o.k. to show your love for him in a public setting. What this means for our cause is that we will see an influx in conservatives, those who will choose to vote and live according to their morals.
I have hit on this subject before, I feel that for the south to suceed in another attempt at freedom, we have to base our entire effort on our morals, as did our ancestors.
It is no coincidence that strong christian values go hand-in-hand with the overall southern picture. For any southerners who feel that these two issues should be seperate that is fine, you are entitled to your opinion, but...something else that you must realize is that our strong morals and christian beliefs are the ONLY things that set us apart from those darn yankees.
As for me, I would rather stay beneath the heavy thumb of the north than to try to justify waging a war on anything less than a noble, GOD-sent cause. If we approach any conflict without GOD on our side, we are doomed.
As for the movie, for those of you who havent seen it yet, it was great. You can read Matthew through John and get a vivid picture of what Jesus Christ went through for us, but seeing it really hits home, kinda gives the entire event that ever-needed touch of realism to fully grasp its gravity. Yes, I do realize that they were actors, and it was only a production...a reenactment if you will, but it was bibically accurate enough for every one who watched the show to form their own ideas and put all of the viewers there, in the garden, in court, and on the cross.......
Sorry everyone about the lengthy posts, but when it is an important issue to me I get kinda long-winded
GOD bless you and yours
