The total number was 15. Believe it or not.
1. South Carolina 2. Alabama 3. Mississippi 4. Georgia 5. Florida 6. Texas 7. Louisiana 8. Virginia 9. Arkansas 10.North Carolina 11.Tennessee 12.Kentucky 13.Missouri 14.Maryland - Indenpendent State, but a Southern State at that. 15.Oklahoma - Indian Territory, but was the Cherokee Five Nations. Fought for the Confederacy.
There you have it. The Truth.
Here is a project for ya'. Take a U.S. Map of the 48 States, and look at the 15 states/territory of the Confederacy. You'll see how much land the South had. Now you'll see why one of the reasons Old Abe Fool had to preserve the Union.
Truth.

Good one, I always like reading about the Indians who fought for the south. You probably knew this already but, Stand Watie was the last confederate officer to surrender his unit.

Yes, he was the one in charge of the Five Nations.
I love that man. If all the Gen's. would have held out like he did, who knows what would've happen.

Abe needed the South for his "American System." Basically, he wanted our money.
